Sooooo…..you’re starting your business! Woohoo! Or maybe you already have started your business… Yay! And you want a website, so you….

  • Check out some website designers and then see their prices and nearly have a heart attack.
  • Decide you can do it yourself, so you YouTube it…and have to take headache medicine afterwards because your brain is on overload.
  • Read about more “affordable” options that you see advertised all over the place as being sooooo easy, but then you can’t tell which option is best or why… leading to more confusion.
  • Start to think to yourself…I don’t REALLY need a website…I can social media the heck outta my business and build it that way!
Does any of that sound like you? That was ME when I first thought of starting my own business!

So what did I do???

I persevered and successfully learned and implemented what it takes to create a quality website that attracts visitors and is easy for them to use. But that was after LOTS of trial and error…and tears…and wanting to throw my laptop through a window…and wanting to give up…know what I mean?

So if you’re going through the same thing, fear not! I can help you!

There’s no reason why YOU should have to go through the same frustrations that I did when I learned how to build my own websites.

I can guide you through the process of building your own website while avoiding the headaches and pitfalls!

The rest of the story…

Tailor-Made Virtual Design began in October 2015 when I decided to take my passion for helping other people solve their problems, my commitment to excellence, and my varied skill sets and blend them together in an effort to support others in their journey towards success.

My professional background includes a 19 year career in the public and private sector in both education and administration. I LOVE to teach! However, I wanted to be able to start my own business and build a career that I loved around my family.

I actually started learning how to build websites in 2013 through a course on affiliate marketing. That was an eye opener…who KNEW how much goes into building a website??? Not me! But then I realized that I enjoyed it. It was fun for me. It was going to be something that I did “on the side” while I taught…supplemental income. My first website with that course wasn’t the best… okay… honestly, it was very very ugly and underwhelming. I decided building affiliate marketing websites wasn’t for me.

However, two years later I decided that I wanted to start my own business in the online space. And guess what? I needed a website. But I couldn’t afford to have someone build it for me, so I knew I had to go back and revisit my not so wonderful previous website building experience and try to figure it all out on my own this time. I YouTube’d it… I Facebook’d it… hours and hours, days, weeks… tears, frustration, anger, wanting to destroy my laptop… but I didn’t quit!!!!! And it paid off.

I quickly had an influx clients and happy referrals. People were asking me about websites and what it took to build one. They wanted to know whether they should use Weebly or WordPress (now it’s expanded to Wix and SquareSpace as well). I walked people through some of their issues when they were trying to build their own.

Some people already had a website and wanted my input on a website makeover because they really didn’t like the one they had… and even worse…they had no idea how to make any changes to it!

Another area I found that people needed help in is knowing how to secure their website. Some of them had absolutely no security in place against spam, hackers, etc. **GASP** So I helped them secure their website. I also built websites for people who wanted one but didn’t feel like doing it themselves.

Lightbulb moment! I could build websites for people (fun), help people build their own websites (even more fun for the teacher in me), AND spend more time with my family (freedom!!!!). Voila! All of my passions in one solution.

Speaking of spending more time with my family….
I am a wife and mother of three children. I have a daughter who is 20, one son in high school who is 14, and one son who is 11 and in middle school.

Being a wife and mother is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it is the most rewarding as well. I am truly blessed to have that opportunity. There are some days I have to remind myself of that…any parents reading this can surely relate 🙂

We are actively involved in ministry at our church, Cornerstone Nashville. In a world where the moral compass seems to have gone haywire, our faith in God and the Bible are our foundations.

As for other things I like to do…
I enjoy reading good suspense and mystery novels. What makes it good? When you get to the last couple of pages and think you have it all figured out, then you’re totally caught off guard by the ending! Yeah, I’m a book nerd.

Music is a big part of my life, too. Singing and dancing are part of my stress relief! That’s why Zumba and Refit are my favorite types of exercise.

Also…I must admit…I do have a tendency to binge-watch series on Netflix sometimes. It’s that instant gratification thing….I don’t like to wait until the next week to see what happens next…you know what I’m talkin about 😉
